Since the World Cup last year there has been a lot of talk about reducing latency. Proposed solutions such as CMAF-CTE or LHLS can indeed help getting from 20 to 4s but have some significant drawbacks. Leveraging the THEO High Efficiency Streaming Protocol (HESP), sub second latency at scale becomes a reality. As an added bonus, the protocol has been optimised to eliminate bandwidth inefficiencies resulting in significant cost savings. While scaling over public HTTP CDNs, it still reduces start-up times to milliseconds, enhancing user experience significantly.
