Aubrey, Sarah Profile
Sarah Aubrey serves as Head of Original Content for the new WarnerMedia Streaming Service. She was appointed to the role in January 2019, reporting to Kevin Reilly, President of TBS & TNT and Chief Creative Officer for Turner and WarnerMedia Direct-to-Consumer. Previously, Sarah was Executive Vice President of Original Programming for TNT. Based in Los Angeles, Aubrey joined the network in 2015 as a key member of the new executive team under Kevin and played an integral role in the network’s evolution into one of the premier destinations for prestige original dramas. Responsible for overseeing all development and production of original series and limited series, Sarah firmly established TNT’s presence in the marketplace with both audiences and key talent by programming a slate of diverse, thoughtful, and prestige properties. With such critically-acclaimed hits as Claws, Animal Kingdom and the award-winning cable drama, The Alienist, Sarah made TNT a distinct voice in today’s cultural conversation. And with new projects including I Am the Night, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Chris Pine, Snowpiercer, starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs, and Ridley Scott’s Raised by Wolves, Sarah made TNT the network to watch for high-quality programming among the best in the industry. Beyond Sarah’s incredible reinvention of TNT, she also makes it a priority to champion diversity at every level of the industry. She works hard within the company and outside to address structural issues and create a framework upon which women and minorities have access to the opportunities and resources needed to achieve in all areas of the business. Under Sarah’s leadership, the number of women holding jobs at the highest levels on the average TNT scripted project more than doubled. TNT also jumped an impressive 320% on the annual GLAAD TV report rankings for LGBTQ representation. Additionally, Sarah has been instrumental in initiatives like Shatterbox, a film series of female storytellers created in partnership with TNT and Refinery29. Prior to joining TNT, Sarah was a prolific television and film producer. Partnered with Peter Berg in their production company, Film 44, she produced such projects as the acclaimed film and television series Friday Night Lights, for which she earned an Emmy nomination, the emotionally charged hit film Lone Survivor, and the universally lauded HBO series The Leftovers. In addition to her work for Film 44, she has produced Terry Zwigoff's irreverent hit comedy Bad Santa, which marked her first feature film credit, and the offbeat romantic comedy-drama Lars and the Real Girl. And once upon a time, before all this, she worked as an entertainment lawyer. In 2018, Sarah was named to Cablefax’s annual “Most Powerful Women in Cable” list as well as being honored by Women In Cable and Television (WICT) as a 2018 LEA Award recipient for her leadership, excellence and advocacy within the industry. Additionally, in March 2019 she will be honored by Multichannel News as a “Woman to Watch.” In 2016, Sarah was recognized as a “Champion of Choice” by Planned Parenthood for championing the reproductive rights of women. Aubrey is an Austin native who earned her law degree at the University of Texas after graduating from Princeton University.
